The Library of Birmingham is situated in Centenary Square, a symbol of Birmingham trying to reinvent its image and sweep away the Brutalist past. The building is designed to be a truly interactive space, with room for exhibitions, conferences, and performances, and tiered wild gardens… there are also books!
The images painted on this picture represent new beginnings for the books leaving the now demolished Central Library. This is their new home and with that they bring magic and wonder to a new generation of readers. Vivid French inks have been applied and certain features have been cut out and raised to bring the image to life.
