Birmingham Chess Set (Project)

Taking a look around Birmingham you may notice that there are lack of souvenirs and gifts in the city centre and tourist hotspots. We have the standard postcards, pencil toppers and notepads with graphics plastered across… but no high end products that would make a quality and memorable gift.

In-keeping with my fascination of Birmingham’s structural skyline, in January 2014 I set about using architectural forms to inspire a completely original chess set design.

Chess is a universal game, and even if you don’t play you will at some point handled a set when visiting friends or family. It makes an ideal gift as it is both a practical product and decorative piece.
